Rewiev: Velvet Cacoon

Here is a band of ambient and black metal. Sounds of falling buildings and foggy evenings.. They describe themselves as "ocean kids with big grey sound"

They started their carreers with their debut album Dextronout. Album is dark black metal with some ambient influences.
They released their second ep called Music For Falling Buildings in 2002 and according to an interview they used a diesel harp to come up with the cloudy sound of the album. Diesel harp is an intsturment invented by Velvet Cacoon's frontman, working with diesel oil. This album contains two tracks.
Then they released their next album Chapelflames. Album starts with an ambient track and has slower songs than their other albums.
In their latest album, Genevieve they did everything that they wanted to. With some use of DXM and their new toy, diesel harp they came up with the sound of drugs and nature blended perfectly.

For beginners i recomment their album Chapelflames and then their magnum opus, Genevieve. The reason behind my recommendations is that they had an mission, to blend the effect of drugs and the atmosphere of the north into their music and i beleive they did this best on Genevieve.
